Tavolara is located in the town of Loiri Porto San Paolo within the Protected Area of Tavolara – Punta Coda Cavallo.
“The mountain is in the middle of the sea”, a piece of Dolomites planted in the unique and crystalline sea of Sardinia. This is the island of Tavolara. A rocky massif that reaches 600 meters high (Slm 565m).
The departure is peculiar on nautical means wearing technical boots and mountain equipment.
When we arrive at ” Spalmatore” Beach we will walk a few steps ant the path begins that crosses a young forest of oaks, junipers and olive trees. The incline is already noticeable after the first steps, that will lead to the first striking passage in about 40 minutes on a Iscala and Fustes. The trail is then easier and allows you to enjoy a panorama that, by every meter gained on the sea level, becomes ever greater and incredible beauty.
Once you reach the vallley (Sa Conca Durriata) you will find the equipped part of the path that in short time reaches the Vetta di Punta Cannone where the panorama spans from Capo Figari to Capo Comino, embracing the smaller islands of the marine area Molara and Molarotto. On clear days, during the winter, you can see the snow-covered mountains of Ospédale in Corsica.
The trail is two ways so you will pass through it to return to the beach, where when the season allows, you can take a swim and then go back to the inflatable boat at the port of Cala Finanza.
