Gorroppu’s Gorge is a deep canyon of Supramonte and marks the border between the municipalities of Orgosolo, Dorgali and Urzulei. It is considered among the deepest canyons of Europe, it has formed as a consequence to the millennial erosive action of Rio Flumineddu.
In the Gorge you can come across endemic plants such as the aquro of Gorroppu, which is also called the nuragic aquilegia.
Hiking starts from the Gorroppu’s bottom and after a scenic 5km journey you will reach the Rio Flumineddu. From here you will continue to the gorge where you can expect a simple but suggestive trekking in a lunar stretch of landscape surrounded by Mediterranean scrub or oleander woods.
