Hiking Gorropu Gorge
The Gorroppu Gorge is a deep canyon in Supramonte and marks the border between the municipalities of Orgosolo, Dorgali and Urzulei.
Considered to be among the deepest canyons in Europe, it was formed as a result of the millennial erosive action of the Rio Flumineddu river.
Inside the gorge, one can come across endemic plant forms such as the aquilegia di Gorroppu, also called aquilegia nuragica.

Gorropu Gorge Excursion
The Gorropu Gorge is an enchanting, deep canyon located in Supramonte. The canyon marks the border between the picturesque municipalities of Orgosolo, Dorgali and Urzulei. Thanks to the millennial erosive action of the Rio Flumineddu, the Gola di Gorropu is considered one of the deepest canyons in Europe.
The trek starts at the Gorropu Base Camp and after a scenic 5 km walk, we reach Rio Flumineddu. From here, the route continues towards the gorge inside which there is a simple but evocative trek through a landscape that is at times lunar and at times immersed in Mediterranean maquis or oleander groves.
Exploring this extraordinary natural environment, one can admire endemic plant forms, such as the columbine of Gorropu, also known as aquilegia nuragica.
The sight of this spectacular landscape is an unforgettable experience for all those who heed the call of nature.
The stillness of the canyon is only interrupted by the sound of the wind and water, creating a feeling of absolute peace.
